The clock is ticking...

My very first book, MEET ISABEL PUDDLES, published by Kensington Books, will be released on November 24th, 2020. Am I nervous? Not yet. But talk to me on November 23rd when I will likely be pacing the floor like an expectant father. The inspiration for the character of Isabel Puddles was my Aunt Isabel, my mother's fraternal twin sister, and one of the funniest people I have ever known... And I have known some funny people. My mother, Helen, served as her twin sister's "straight man" as well as her most loyal audience. Aunt Isabel, who we all called "Sissy", once described growing up with her twin sister to me this way: "Your mother was the pretty one who all the boys in town adored. I was the one who could throw a ball farther and climb a tree faster than any of them."
The world Isabel Puddles inhabits is a mostly fictionalized version of the place where I spent my childhood summers with my grandparents at their summer cottage on the lake, with a whole slew of aunts, uncles, and cousins. This book is a tribute to all of them, and to my great-grandparents, who I never knew, but by way of family stories, feel as if I did. And finally, it is an homage to a time and a place that will always remain near and dear to my heart.
